ChesterField Rock

It began…

Carter met Josh at guitar lessons in 1997. Although they didn’t know it then this would spark their musical careers together, and eventually the formation of CFR.

Chesterfield Rock was formed in the spring of 2003 to play at their grade 9 graduation. Founded by lead singer/guitar player Josh Giambattista and piano player Carter Kolbeck in music class, the band was later joined by Shawn Ritco on drums and Aaron Coons on bass guitar.

The first paid gig was at Sparky’s in October 2004. Followed by a performance at ‘Unite the Scene: The Young Guns’, plus competing in and winning both ‘The Last Band Standing‘ competition sponsored by Supernova and the Saskatchewan ‘Xtreme Band Slam’ in January 2005.

The band opened for Wide Mouth Mason at the Casino Regina Show Lounge at the end of February 2005 and then on to Toronto in March 2005 for the Canadian Xtreme Band Slam semi-finals as part of Canadian Music Week festivities.

Their recent cut, All Good Things EP was recorded live-off-the-floor mid-December 2004 and features eight of CFR’s earlier tunes.

Carter Kolbeck

Chris Martin of Coldplay and Carter’s mom have been the two biggest influences on the keyboard guy and other writer for CFR. Carter has been playing piano for eight years and guitar for seven, as well as being an avid sports fan. Carter is also in charge of keeping all the other band members in line, and takes this responsibility very seriously

Aaron Coons

bass guitar

A man of many musical tastes from jazz to opera, Aaron (AKA Coonsie) has been playing bass guitar for over three years. Aaron is also an accomplished drummer with over ten years as a member of the Regina Lions Band. Aaron remains the strong silent type and can be found in his off hours playing video games and chatting on MSN.

Josh Giambattista

lead singer/guitar/songwriter

Josh has evolved into the front man becoming the lead vocalist for ChesterField Rock shortly after the band’s formation. Influences include such bands as Radiohead, Oasis and Pink Floyd. Josh is one of the two writers of CFR’s heartfelt lyrics.

Shawn Ritco

drums/backup vocals

AKA: Shawny the drummer, Shawn is by far the most animated member of ChesterField Rock and is a show all his own behind the drumset each and every song. Shawn has been drumming for over four years and his musical style has been influenced by Rush, Pink Floyd and Animal (the drummer from the Muppets). In his spare time Shawn enjoys snowboarding, video games and heartbreak.
